The show that I really, really love is Only Murders In The Building, I’m desperate to see the new series. I’ve loved Martin Short since I saw him in  Father of the Bride. We had that film on VHS and I used to have to press pause because I was laughing too much. I just love him and I love that he’s having this late-in-life romance with Meryl Streep.

I would like to go to the cinema more often, it’s so easy to do and I have such a good time, but I haven’t done it for ages. The Ballad of Wallis Island is coming back on at my local cinema, I really want to see that. It’s looking a bit grey this week, so it’s good timing.

Obviously, I watch a lot of football. I watch the game and I enjoy it, but I watch the studio stuff very closely too. Sometimes I think, oh, that’s a good question, I like that how they do that. Sometimes you like how someone does something, but you know it wouldn’t fit into your own way of doing things. I always watch the pundits that I work with, so that I know what kind of thing works well with them.

When I went in at the start of Sky Sports News we had a two week preparation for going on air and we had all these sessions discussing presenting styles. I think everyone said that Des Lynam was the best, but I wanted to know why he was the best. 

For me, it was the way he always seemed completely in control while also being completely relaxed. You always felt you were safe with him. And he never tried to be the expert. He was there to get the best out of the people around him. I think he became a star because of that, because he would let other people shine. He had that real old school charm.
